SETIO
Recovery Efforts
SETIO's Port
Arthur Recovery Project ended July 31, 2009. The
original goal was the repair of 300 homes. The project
exceeded it goal by nearly 50%, repairing 29 homes.
In
response to Hurricane Ike needs, SETIO opened three recovery
projects in Port Arthur, Bridge City, and Cheek Texas.
Those projects closed successfully August 31, 2010.
The majority of the labor was
done by dedicated volunteers from the local area, from
across the United States, and as far away as Canada.
Unfortunately all of the repairs can not be done by
volunteer labor and professional contractors must be used.
In these situations, grant funds and donations are used to
pay for these expenses.
Federal funds were utilized
through a partnership with the City of Port Arthur to assist
low-income families with repairs for roofing, electrical and
plumbing.
This is why we need the
assistance of YOU and YOUR CONGREGATION OR ORGANIZATION!
Here are a few of the ways in which assistance can be
provided to this important project:
-
Adopt a home
-
Donate money for
construction materials and costs
-
Donate gift cards from
Lowe's or Home Depot to purchase materials
-
Tell your friends and
neighbors about SETIO and our work
-
Pray for our efforts and
the families still in need
